Reykjavik

Located on the fringe of the Arctic Circle, Reykjavik is the world’s northernmost capital. Framed by the majestic Mt. Esja, the city spreads across a peninsular with panoramic mountain and Atlantic views. On a clear sunny day, the mystical Snaefellsjokull glacier glistens on the western horizon, while mountainous moonscapes extend to the southeast. As with Iceland in general, Reykjavík is full of contrasts, with quaint historical buildings of stone and wood mingling with imaginative modern architecture. The city has a concentration of restaurants, clubs, cafés and bars in the main shopping street Laugavegur, where the friendly hospitality of the Icelandic people is a delight to experience.
